Don't have all the materials? No problem.

• Instead of playdough for the volcano → pile damp sand around the bottle to form the mountain shape.
• Instead of food coloring → use red or orange watercolor paint diluted in the vinegar.
• Baking soda and vinegar are found in any kitchen.

📋 Step-by-step instructions

1. Place the bottle on the tray and build the volcano shape around it with playdough or sand.
2. Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda inside the bottle.
3. Mix the vinegar with red food coloring in a separate cup.
4. When ready for the eruption pour the colored vinegar into the bottle.
5. Watch the foam eruption pour out of the volcano crater.
6. Repeat as many times as you want by adding more baking soda and vinegar.

💡 Extra ideas

• Build the volcano one day and do the eruption the next to build up excitement.
• Add a few drops of dish soap to the baking soda to make the foam more abundant and dramatic.
• Explain to your child that baking soda and vinegar react and produce gas — that gas is what pushes the foam out.
