- Instead of food coloring β use watercolor paint diluted in water.
- Instead of store-bought flowers β use white flowers from the garden or celery β celery also absorbs color and looks amazing.
- Any white flower you can find at home or at the market will work.
π Step-by-step instructions
- Fill the glasses with water and add plenty of food coloring to each one β a different color per glass.
- Cut the flower stem diagonally for better absorption.
- Place one flower in each colored glass.
- Check every hour to see the petals gradually changing color.
- The full effect is best seen after 24 hours.

- Split one flower stem in half and place each part in a different color β you'll get a two-colored flower!
- Take a photo every hour to document the progress.
- Explain to your child that the flower drinks water through its stem β just like we drink through a straw.
